Marci from La La Land

Hey ho peeps!

I have two cards for you today using some new stamps I found at my LSS. They are by La La Land Crafts and the little character is named Marci.

Here's the first one with a cooking theme and I've added a rolling pin charm:

And the second one with some bright and cheerful papers for a birthday:

Unfortunately on this one, one of the brown inks in her hair turned a pinkish tinge and no matter what I tried, it didn't fix it - so I've decided she's copied my DD12 and gone pink for the Leukaemia Foundation, LOL!

I am meant to share 8 things about myself so I'll try to keep it short!

I teach accounting and computers at a local TAFE college and have been a teacher for over 25 years.
I was born in NZ and lived on air force bases until I was 14.
My two daughters are my greatest achievements
I am afraid of heights. (Well, not so much of being high, but of falling from a height!)
Diana Gabaldon is my favourite author.
I love Scottish and Irish accents (doesn't everyone?!)
I wanted to be a vet when I was a kid, but a scientific mind I am most definitely NOT! I only passed basic science at high school because I have neat handwriting and my teacher liked neat books!
My favourite tipple is brandy and dry ginger ale.

To pass this on, really you just have to look at my blog roll list - they are all so talented and inspiring that you would enjoy a visit to every one of these wonderful ladies.

Picnic Butterflies

The time has flown by again and it's nearly time for Cutie Pie class once more - I do love these, as it's often the only time I get the chance to do some watercolouring!

I've used some Sarah Kay stamps this month, they are so cute. The first card is pretty much a case of a lovely card by Cindy Lawrence, I've just made some minor changes. My mind is completely knackered from a busy week at work, so I had no imagination to think up my own designs and have relied upon the genius of others! The picnic basket is so fitting for now, as we are still enjoying some wonderfully warm weather before the cool of Autumn sets in properly ...

The buttons are made using the SU die and I did three layers and stuck them together for a bit of strength and dimension.

My second card uses much softer tones and lots of sponging and distressing, which is such fun to do. It was inspired by another card too, but I have no idea of the original artist's name, unfortunately.

So Long, Farewell

English Roses

For this month's class we are making a gift set - a purse-shaped gift box with matching card. The box is a great size and would hold quite a bit - great for candles, bath bombs, chocolates, make up, lace hankies, etc.

I just adore Kaiser's English Roses papers and as luck would have it, they team up beautifully with SU colours.

I get a bit depressed sometimes when I see cards where the images are coloured with copics and look so wonderful, and feel my watercolouring with inks is a bit of a poor relation! My lovely customers cheer me up though, by telling me they love my watercolouring - aren't they the sweetest?

How lucky was it that I had buttons in my stash that matched the colours so well? I knew there's a reason why I have a large container chocka-block full of buttons!!! LOL!

Finally!

Yes, I'm back at last! I finally got the chance to sit and ink up this totally adorable LOTV image called Little Nurse. Stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with inks and markers.

Originally I had the "medicine" in the spoon as red, thinking that a little kid would probably use raspberry cordial, but then I took a closer look at teddy's face and decided the medicine needed to look more yukky!! LOL! What do you think?

Shabby Chic

Here's one of the cards we're making in my Magnolia class next week. I wanted a birthday theme and found these gorgeous papers by Fancy Pants Design at my LSS; I love the way the bold colours have been muted and given a real shabby chic look. And of course you can't go wrong with some bunting!!!!! tee hee!

Anyways, here's the card:

Unwrapped Tilda has been coloured using inks on watercolour paper and I've used my new nestabilities Lacey Circles die - isn't it cute? I cut out an extra set of bunting and layered them, then added twine bows. The tag sentiment echoes the tag on the gift and some of the edges have been distressed or sponged to add to the shabby chic look.

Inside:

The candles and happy birthday sentiment are from SU's Party This Way set.

Carol Singing

OMG I can't believe it's been a whole month since I posted anything here! Sorry to be MIA for so long, but I have been really busy with SU classes and events and honestly just haven't had time to sit and make a non SU card! You can check out all my SU goodies here if you want!

Today I have for you a very simple Christmas card that I made some time ago. I want to be able to mass produce these easily, so I kept the layout very basic to leave time for the watercolouring. I adore the Christmas stamps from Lily of the Valley and had a very difficult time picking just two images to buy (much as I would have loved to get them all!). I have used SU's Cherry Cobbler as my base, as I am totally in LOVE with this colour! It is so gogeous and rich and just perfect for Chrissie cards.

Aren't these little ones adorable? My girls and I love singing Xmas carols together and this reminds me of those wonderful memories. Love the little doggie singing along too, LOL!!!

Spooktacular!

Hi stampers! Today's card is for three Magnolia challenges:

We don't get much Halloween stuff down here in Australia, so I haven't got a huge collection to choose from, but I can see me getting hooked and finding some more from the US! Here's my tri-fold card featuring Bat Tilda and Dracula Edwin:

Aren't these two adorable? The pumpkin and tag sentiment stamps are from a retired SU set. The bats and spider are a Cuttlebug set, as is the cobweb embossing folder. I added kindy glitz to the strands of the web to make it sparkle. The main sentiment I printed on the computer and Tilda and Edwin are coloured using inks and markers on watercolour paper. Edwin's skin is pale of course - very Edward Cullen, LOL!!!

I had so much fun making this, I am thinking maybe it might be my Magnolia class project for October ... I'm sure my ladies would love it!

A Little Retail Therapy

G'day mates! Today's card was meant to be for the Just Add Ink challenge last week, which was to just add fabric. As you can see, I've well and truly missed the boat on that one, LOL! But I thought I would make the card anyway and had lots of fun.

As I recently purchased Australian Tilda from the latest travel collection, I bought some Aboriginal design fabric to use with her. I love the colours in this fabric, plus how closely they match SU colours so I would have card and inks to match! Here's Aussie Tilda sitting on her boomerang:

Glad We're Friends

I wanted to make a small token for a friend of mine who's been having a bit of a rough time lately, and to let her know I am thinking of her. As she has admired my easel drawer cards, it was the perfect choice! Naturally, Tilda had to make an appearance too!

I put some small rhinestones on the fairy dust sprinkles to add a little sparkle, and some more in the flower centres. The little handle has been admired by my friend for a while, so I bought her a few and popped them inside the drawer for her to find.

Tilda Time Again

This week was my monthly Magnolia class and I totally forgot to show you the ATC I received in last month's swap. This gorgeous card was made by Debra and you may recall the theme was School.

So cute! The cards we made in class are this one:

A departure from my usual colour combos; I made an effort to step outside my "square" and I am really happy with how it turned out. I've teamed the Kaiser papers with SU card and used an SU stamp for the sentiment as well as my favourite nesties shape!

Tilda is soooooo adorable!

Our second card is a bit different; the adorable Fairy Dust Tilda amid embossed birthday wishes.

We put some dazzling diamonds sparkle on the fairy dust which looks gorgeous when it catches the light, but it doesn't show in the photo.

For the Birthday Boy

It's DH's birthday this week and my DD18 stole the card I was going to use! So of course I had to come up with another one and I've used one of my new LOTV stamps.

As DH had an accident a few weeks ago and has been laid up ever since, I thought this image and the sentiments fit perfectly! He likes bold colours, so I've used some scraps of Kaiser papers I had left over from a few months ago, and kept the layout very simple as he's not into "fussy" at all! (typical male!). Here's the card front:

And just a touch of colour on the inside too, leaving plenty of room for me to make jokes about his age! Oh OK, and put some loving sentiment too ... !!!

Ribbons and Pearls

This week I have made three cards all using the Sweet Tilda image from Magnolia. The third one was in yesterday's Chocolate challenge post and here's the second one I made, very pretty and girly with pinks, ribbon, pearls and roses. This one is for the Just Magnolia challenge, which is a recipe: 3 flowers, 2 papers and one ribbon.

(The three flowers are on the inside page, which you can see better at the top of this post.)The floral paper is digital from barely there, pearl strips from Kaiser, flowers from my LSS, white paper and all other materials are Stampin' Up!. Here's a close up of Tilda:

Mmmm, Chocolate!

There's a new challenge blog called Totally Tilda and I was pretty keen to have a go at their inaugural challenge. The theme is CHOCOLATE (which is right up my alley!) and we are to use lots of browns and creams, with a touch of another colour allowed.

I have been cruising around on Splitcoast and found a double pocket bag I wanted to try, so I made a bag to match my card which is perfect for the best of all gifts ... chocolate! Here they are:

Unfortunately the size chocolate blocks I bought were waaaaay too big to fit into my bag, so sadly they had to be replaced by smaller blocks. A very distressing situation, as you can imagine. But don't worry, I am certain my family will be able to give the large blocks a loving home.

School ATC

Another chilly day here today, so the perfect excuse to stay inside and create!

My Magnolia class ladies are making their first ATCs as "homework" for this month's class. I gave them two stamped images - one to swap and one to keep for themselves (as I know, like me, they find it very difficult to give away these cuties, LOL!). So I sat down today to make mine and couldn't find any of the bits and pieces I had put aside for my one! Things just seem to get up and walk off my craft desk ... don't know where they go to! I hope I'm not the only one with this problem, LOL!

Anyways, luckily there's no shortage of stuff around here, so a quick adaptation of what I had originally planned and here is my School theme ATC for our swap:

A little more basic than what I wanted, but there you go, some days things just don't go as planned! Tilda is a little tall for the base (which is only 3 1/2 inches high) so she's sticking out a bit!

Thank Goodness for Harry

The card I made this morning holds special meaning for me.

Background: I have always been an avid reader and was saddened when, at 6 or 7, my elder daughter showed no signs of being especially keen on books. Sure, she enjoyed it when I read to her, but seldom picked up a book on her own. Then along came Harry Potter and everything changed. She began reading everything she could lay her hands on and by 10 had a reading age of 13. Luckily, my younger daughter has also become a voracious reader and the two of them (now at 12 and 18) often share books, fight over who will read a book first, and yes, they do snuggle up together and read to each other.

So when I saw this Lily of the Valley image, I just had to have it. The sight of these two gorgeous little girls sitting together in a comfy, shabby old armchair reading together holds such poignancy - I'm sure you mums out there will understand.

Nautical Niceness

Sorry about two posts in one day, but my camera battery literally died after the one photo I managed to get for my earlier post! So I had to wait for the battery to charge up again to take the rest of my photos.

I promised to show you the ATCs I received in our swap (my offerings are two posts down) so here they are, firstly the collection all together:

And here are close ups of each one. The colouring has just blown me away, they are so realistic it's amazing. I can only hope to get somewhere near that good one day!

The sand has little bits of glitter in it which I haven't photographed very well, and the metal pieces on the fence posts are done with metallic pen too. For Tracie, Lynne and Fil

A couple of ladies in my Magnolia class are pony club enthusiasts, so I thought it would be fun to do a card with Tilda and her pony. Mind you, I might get in trouble with another class member who is getting pestered by her daughter for a horse! LOL!

The two images take up a fair amount of space so there's not alot of room left for embellishing without making the card rather huge! So I've kept things to a minimum and gone with some gingham paper and stitching to give a country feel. The bow in the top corner represents "blue ribbon" prizes at eventing and the corduroy brad adds to the country theme.

The Fruitful Collection

I have just taken part in an Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap and made my first ever ATCs. ATCs are the craft equivalent of baseball cards and measure just 3 1/2 inches high by 2 1/2 inches wide. The idea is that you swap them with other enthusiasts, you don't sell them. We had to make 3 ATCs with a common theme which didn't necessarily have to include a Magnola stamp. (I hope my swap partner has received them by now so I am safe to put these photos up!)

I chose fruit as my theme and named them 'The Fruitful Collection', LOL! As I had to mail them to my swap partner, they couldn't be too bulky so embellishments are kept to a restrained minimum, then once they were all finished I had the idea of using a Bandaid tin to store them in, thus keeping them safe in the mail.

So here's the tin:

It was such a lot of fun that I have started an ATC swap with my Magnolia class ladies and have set them "homework" for next class!

Daisies and Leaves

It's time for my Magnolia class again (where has the month gone?) and this time around we're doing something a little different.

Our first card features a Sugar Nellie stamp that one of my ladies specifically requested because it looks quite a bit like her daughter, LOL! I've kept the front of the card fairly simple as there's plenty of flowers in the image and on the designer paper, but on the inside I've added some punched daisies for a bit of fun. Here's the card:

Our second card is a Magnolia but in keeping with the weather I've gone for warm earthy tones and used Tilda with Fall flowers. I love this colour combination, especially the dash of rich purple in the mix!

Apart from Tilda, all the other materials are Stampin' Up! I feel warmer just looking at it - it is a mite chilly today and it looks like more rain is not far away. A perfect reason for you to stay home and craft!

Dani and Friends

I bought some Prismacolour pencils last week - just half a dozen or so - so I could try them out before I committed to a fairly tidy sum for a set. As a trial I've coloured up one of Mo Manning's gorgeous digital images; I bought a set of teenage girls called Dani and Friends because they remind me so much of my own two girls.

This one is called Psst Dani and Taylor and I can see already I'm going to have to increase my colour spectrum! I just had to make do with what I have, but obviously can't keep colouring these girls with only red, blue, green, yellow, pink and brown!

Rockin' Out

Here is the last of my new Sugar Nellie stamps, another Manga. I ordered a boy one because I seriously do not have enough stamps for boys around 8-14; the card I sent my nephew this year was totally lame and I'm darn sure he would prefer this one!

I had tons of fun making up this easel card. The stars wheel and you rock sentiment are from SU, as are the die cut letters for Dude and the star brad. The paper is Kaiser.

Gorjuss!

No, that's not me "blowing my own trumpet", but the name of the stamp! Gorjuss is one of the Sugar Nellie stamps I recently acquired and promised to show you.

I've borrowed the layout from the Tickled Pink sketch challenge and used SU colours Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette (two of my all time favs). Can you tell I'm a real "matchy-matchy" kinda girl? LOL! My new Martha Stewart punch gets another airing and the sentiment is from SU's tiny tags in the mini catty. I just loved how the flower on the sentiment matched the flower in her hair - as I said, "matchy, matchy"!!!

Anyways, hope you like it. Very soft and feminine, which is the mood I was in this morning.

Yesterday's mail brought new Sugar Nellie stamps from Funky Kits and after I'd mounted them on Ezymount, I felt strangely compelled to ink them up ... no great surprise of course! I've only gotten around to finishing one and turning it into a card so far though (medical issues with DD11) but I promise to come back next week with more.

This is my first Manga stamp and I had to admit that when asked what Manga is, I didn't know! So I turned to Wikipedia to find out. How great is it to have an up to date resource at your immediate fingertips?

I was thinking of DD18 at the time I started colouring, hence the use of SU's Ballet Blue, her favourite! Mind you, she won't be too thrilled about the Regal Rose, not being into pink at all, LOL! The paper is digi from Bearly There, punch is Martha Stewart, digi ticket stub by Bizzy Becs.

Pretty Princess

OMGosh, sorry for the long absence - it hardly seems like over a week since my last post. Life just keeps getting in the way, LOL! I don't seem to get nearly enough time for non SU cards these days except when my Magnolia class is due. And speaking of which, I am really enjoying Princess Tilda and have happily inked her up again for this month's class. Today she is in yellow with sparkly petticoat and gloves - so adorable!

I've gone with a vintage feel to the background again (loving this look) and added little touches of bling here and there - well, where would a Princess be without her jewels?

The inside of the card makes it special for any little girl celebrating a birthday:

Sarah Kay Butterfly Easel

Hello happy stampers! Can you believe we it's May already? OMG, they will have Christmas things in the shops before we know it! LOL!

Well, today I have a card for you using another of my new Sarah Kay stamps. I just love these gorgeous little girls (and boys) and they are lots of fun to watercolour - and you know how much I adore watercolouring! So, here is Zoe gazing at the butterfly which I have made into an easel card:

Isn't she a sweetie? I remembered how both my girls loved pink at this age and used Melon Mambo for the jeans - looks a little more subdued in the photo than IRL, thank goodness!

Getting A Round Tuit

I bought some lovely houndstooth ribbon on sale a while back and in the back of my mind kept thinking that I must make a card with it. I had also purchased the houndstooth Cuttlebug embossing folder with the idea of using them together ... and then was worried that I might overpower - or "overtooth"! LOL - the card by using both.

But, I needn't have worried. By keeping the design very simple and not tossing in too many embellishments (I do love embellishments!) I think I have managed to pull it off quite nicely. Hope you agree!

Just adore these puffy flowers - this one is made with some Candylion paper that has black and white on both sides, which fitted perfectly with my theme. Note to self: buy more larger sized brads for puffy flowers!

Going to Town with Vintage

The challenge over at Just Add Ink this week is to just add vintage, so I did! I had a ball and used as many "vintagey" embellishments as I could fit on my card without overpowering it completely! I've been doing a lot of purple cards lately so to give myself a break from that have gone with blue, grey and yellow with a touch of burgundy. Excuse the photos though, please, as I don't take good photos at night.

Fairytale

Last night I couldn't resist inking up my other new Magnolia, Fairytale Tilda. This little angel has got wings to burn and it is lots of fun adding all that glitter to them!

For my sentiment I was torn between sweet (Sending you fairytale wishes) and tongue-in-cheek, and as I have a bit of a wicked sense of humour (who, me?) then the tongue-in-cheek option won! Here's the inside:

Lords and Ladies, Mesdames and Monsieurs, Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome ... Princess Tilda ...

Is she not the most GORJUS young lady ever???? Oh, I had such FUN colouring in this regal miss! Unfortunately I didn't have any really lovely papers on hand to show off her radiance as it really deserves (so that's high on my shopping list!) so I gave her a beautiful bouquet instead, as well as a royal background (the fleur de lis nestie) and of course, some jewels as befits her royal status.

And if you look really closely - here, I'll help you - you can see that her gloves, lace and tiara all sparkle!

Well, after my brush with royalty, I really don't feel like returning to mundane things such as housework ... where is Cinderella when I need her?!

Clutch Card

The card I made this morning was influenced by a number of things:

recently making a purse shaped mini scrapbook album for an upcoming workshop (see here)
the colours of a card made for a Mojo Monday challenge (see here)
a friend showing me a foolproof way to use magnet closures on cards (thanks Rob!)

So when I woke up I had the idea for the "clutch card" in my head; I even knew exactly which papers and stamps I wanted to use, which made the creation of it so much easier! Which fictional character is it that says, "I love it when a plan comes together!"?! LOL!

OK, enough rambling, here's the card:

April Magnolia

I wasn't in the mood for cutting up materials for classes, so I prepared cards for next week's Magnolia class instead. The perfect excuse to sit and watercolour! This month we are bright and funky. These gorgeous papers from Paper Inklings were too cute to pass up and match perfectly with SU's rich razzleberry, summer sun, tempting turquoise and wild wasabi.

The other card we are doing is another bright and cheerful card using tangerine tango and taken with teal. My ladies picked this one, which surprised me, but they obviously love the fresh colours too.

I have some new Magnolia stamps arriving soon from the Fairytale collection, so I think next month's cards might be in pretty pastels!

New Sarah Kay!

Yay! my new Sarah Kay stamps finally arrived - just as I was about to leave to go to Victoria! So they've been waiting patiently on my craft desk for me to get back and have a play and I finally managed to do that last night.

DD11 decided I should start with this one of Olivia with her kittens Kiki and Sugar. I love the soft, muted tones of this old K & Co paper, so tried to keep my colouring in similar tones.

Aren't they adorable? One wish I have always had is that I could draw, but that will just have to remain a talent I admire in others!

My elder daughter and I both celebrated birthdays over Easter as our bdays are only two days apart. We received a number of hand made cards from friends and family so I thought I'd show them to you.

First up is the Tilda cards my DD11 made for us. Here is the one she made for her big sister:

It was my idea to add dazzling diamonds to the chipboard numbers, but otherwise this card was totally DD11's creation. Here's the card she made for me, incorporating my two favourite colours of red and purple:

I really shouldn't have taken time out today to make a card, but it has been ages since I've done a Cinema Saturday challenge and the movie this week is just perfect! (plus I was longing to do some watercolouring!) DD17 is having a birthday next week and I wanted a special card. I was going to make do with one I've already made as I'm so busy, but when I saw this challenge I just knew I had to make another card for her 18th. The movie is Julie and Julia (which I really enjoyed) and the requirement is to have something to do with cooking.

Well, what could be more perfect than some of the Yummy for your Tummy series of Magnolia stamps? And I managed to find a few remnants of some Laura Ashley papers that I used years ago to make my daughter a recipe book - another link, and one that will have personal meaning to DD. The papers also have a slightly Parisian look to me, so that fitted well too!

Birthday Tulips

I was blog surfing the other day and came across a brilliant card by Julia Bettencourt where she used the new (to us here Down Under) SU bird punch to make tulips. I loved it and was dying to try it for myself and then today remembered that I had a couple of images of Tilda with Tulips that Bec kindly sent me some time ago - so I thought, Perfect! and I made a birthday card for a friend.

Unfortunately the colours in the photos are a little washed out ... not to worry!

As luck would have it, the theme over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is birthdays, so this is my entry for the challenge.

Did you know that tulips are an Easter flower in many countries? So you could use this as an Easter card as well as a birthday card. I know, I'm a clever little vegemite!!!

A RRRUFF DAY

Today's cards were so fun to make! I bought this stamp set with my SIL in mind, as she is a doggie person while we are cat people. These little guys are so cute though, I could be persuaded to change!

I liked this one so much I made another in a different colour combo.

Then I tried something different. According to DD11, they are all "beyond cute"!

21st Tilda

We are attending a 21st birthday party at the weekend and I know the young lady loves purple, so I set about making a special card. I had some Kaiser papers I was dying to use which feature one of my fav colour combos of the moment - purple, yellow and green.

Here is the front of the card:

I picked up a chipboard 21 key at my LSS and coloured it deep purple with ink and a sponge dauber. Then I decided to add some bling to it, so used SU's heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds. Very sparkly! Tilda sits perfectly on it and looks so pretty in her purple and yellow outfit, don't you think?

And the inside looks like this:

It's rather a large card because of the size of the key, but that's not an issue when we are hand delivering.

Before you return to your regular programming ...

Yes folks, today's post falls into the "and now for something completely different" category.

DH went on a business trip to China recently and while he was away I was sorting through my stash and came across some old embellishments that I've had for quite some time - and what theme do you think they had? Yup, you guessed it, China/Asia.

Now, it's been a long time since I made a card like this and I'm pretty rusty, so it mulled around in my head for a few days before I was game enough to put it to paper. I was also inspired by my recent foray into paper flowers made from the scallop circle punch (see my other blog here) and experimented with different sizes and shapes. The flowers I've used here were made from the 6 petal flower on the Boho Blossoms punch by Stampin' Up!

I used one of DD11's wheels from Kaszazz for the inside page as it fitted perfectly:

February Magnolia class

This month we are doing a boy card and as I only have one Edwin stamp so far, it was an easy choice. I decided to team him up with Rufus the dog for company and make an easel card - so simple and so effective. The gorgeous colours in these papers really appealed for their boldness and earthy tones. I think even my fussy DH might like these ones! (yup, I was right, he gave them a big thumbs up!)

I'm entering this one in this week's Just Magnolia challenge, where the theme is birthdays and Magnolia Down Under challenge which is an easel card.

We're also making a Sarah Kay card for a bit of a change and I picked Precious Moments. I initially had in mind to use soft blues and oranges, but when I saw this gorgeous Easter paper I just HAD to use it instead. I've emphasised the country feel with gingham ribbon and some buttons and sponging and amazingly, I actually had an Easter stamp! A new colour combo for me and I rather like it, I have to admit! Pink, yellow and brown ... well, who'd have thunk?

Peter and Friends

I recently bought some Beatrix Potter silicon stamps and have been longing to have a play with them. Does anybody not love Beatrix Potter's drawings and characters? It was a bit of a struggle to decide which image to ink up first, but finally the gorgeous mother mouse and her offspring won - perhaps because my recently-gone-off-to-uni-offspring is on my mind. Is this Mrs Tittlemouse or Hunca Munca? Can't remember all the characters' names; I'll have to look at the books again!

Then Jemima Puddleduck was kicking up a fuss and demanding attention (as only Jemima can!) so she came next, waddling her way into our affections. She looks so pretty in her bonnet and floral shawl that I just had to give her a girly pink card to match:

And finally Peter himself, looking so handsome in his blue coat, off to steal some cabbages from the garden no doubt! The brads represent the shiny silver buttons on Peter's coat and the sentiment is rather tongue-in-cheek! LOL!

It's been a long time since I took part in a Cinema Saturday Challenge but this week's movie instantly generated an idea for a card and I couldn't wait to make it!

Being huge Austen fans, we always enjoy watching the modern interpretations too, such as 10 Things I Hate About You, Clueless, Bride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones, etc, and I thought they did a brilliant job in Clueless. The inspiration for my card is Cher's love of fashion and shopping and also her desire to help others - both of which are "good for the soul".

All of my posts here so far have been "girly" cards, so now for something completely different I have a bloke card to show! Radical I know, LOL!!!

I call this card "The Ones That Got Away"!

Don't you just love the look on his face! I can so relate to that look when the card mojo disappears! And I love how the sign says Gone Fishing ... again...! ROFLOL!

The stamps for this came from the same set I used for this golf card here for my big brother and are Paper Xtra clear stamps by Sullivans. There's a tool image too and tons of sentiments, so altogether an excellent range of blokey things. Both my brothers love golf and fishing and the tool one ... well, I can taunt DH with it to encourage him to do all the jobs around the house that he keeps neglecting!

It's a sketch challenge this time around over at Magnolia Down Under, plus we also have to use orange and make a girlie card. I decided to use some pretty digi papers from Jak Heath which co-ordinate wonderfully with SU's tangerine tango.

I am pretty happy with how my card turned out and I am loving Jam Tilda as a redhead! Makes me think of Anne of Green Gables LOL!

Tilda Fest

As I haven't had the chance to make any new cards today, I thought I'd show you a couple I made some time ago.

This first one was for a challenge where you had to use hand made flowers and buttons, so I made my flowers from the scallop circle punch. Love the Martha Stewart lace doily punch; so feminine, and Sweetheart Tilda is one of my favourites.

The next one was also a challenge, this one had to have one flower, two ribbons, three brads and four papers.

I just love Tilda and Edwin together! So cute! At Magnolia class last night one of the ladies brought along her sister-in-law, who is now a firmly converted Magnolia lover and can't wait until next month's class! She is a photographer and I've been admiring her fantastic work today - go check out her blog here.

True Love's First Kiss

A Plethora of Pink Roses

Once upon a time there was a compulsive obsessive stamper (COS) who loved watercolouring. She sat down one night to colour a Tilda for (a) her Magnolia class next week and (b) a Magnolia Down Under challenge. But nothing ran smoothly in the land of Tilda ...

The first attempt used Pretty in Pink for the roses highlighted with Regal Rose ... but although beautiful, the RR flowers were deemed too dark to go with the papers the COS wanted to use.

For her second attempt the COS used Pink Pirouette highlighted with Pretty in Pink for the roses and all seemed well in fairytale Tilda land. Then the COS got the idea to add some clear embossing powder to the roses to add a tiny bit of dimension and shine. So Versamark pen was used on just the roses and clear embossing took place ... only to have disaster befall our heroine! The embossing was highlighting the black ink used to stamp the image and now the flowers looked like something from The Addams Family!!! Oh woe is us! What could be done to slay the rose demons and restore order to the land?

There was nothing for it. She would have to bravely battle her rapidly decreasing stock of watercolour paper, courageously push aside fatigue and put every effort into a third and final attempt.

And yea! the whole land rejoiced! For finally the colouring was deemed acceptable and the card was finished to the satisfaction of all!

Apples Anyone?

I recently joined a Magnolia lovers group and took part in a Mingle, where we send a card to another member, just for fun. As incredibly difficult as it is to part with a Tilda card (LOL!), this is the card I sent to Canada. Hopefully my recipient has got it by now, so it won't matter that I show you!

I used Peachy Tilda and turned the peaches into apples, then gave it a country feel with the stitched paper, gingham ribbon and lightly sponged edges. As always, I've used inks, markers and aqua painter on watercolour paper to colour Tilda.

Are you a Sarah Kay stamps fan? Me too! Did you know that Stampavie are releasing some brand new SK stamps soon? You can pre-order them at 7kidscollegefund and OH. MY. GOSH. they are totally GORGEOUS! DD11 and I were checking them out yesterday and we were ooohing and aaaaahing over them all! It is going to be a VERY difficult decision choosing only a few to get ... in my first order ... he he! DD11 insists on the one eating watermelon (and I know I won't get any peace at all if I don't get it!) and we love the one with kittens (we're cat people, we have three) and the one with .... and .... well, you know how it is!!!

Yeah, I Know I'm Weird!

I can't stand tea or coffee; never have, never will. Even the smell of coffee breath makes me cringe, but for some strange reason - well, okay, VERY STRANGE (LOL!) - I just LOVE tea pots and cups and the whole coffee shop lifestyle. (Lucky for me Gloria Jeans makes a divine hot chocolate!!!)

So, anyways, one of my recent purchases was two sets from Verve featuring - yup, you guessed it - tea and coffee images. I've had a huge amount of fun tonight (oops, now it's "last night") making up a set of four gift cards and a matching box to store them in. Here's a view of the set:

And here's the top of the box, which is just the mini pizza box pattern made in SU's Parisian Breeze speciality papers (LOVE them!):

I've used Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip as my colours and kept everything fairly simple. Here's a closer view of the cards:

Aren't they just GORJUS???? Well, I think they are! And hopefully my friends will too, cos I think we might just make these at class on Tuesday! Yay!

Funky Shoes

Yes, second post today; I actually got some time to make cards in between NUMEROUS interruptions! This is one of my brand new, first ever owned Verve sets called Express Yourself.

I had the bobbly things left over from an Arabian Nights scrapbook page I did a few years ago and I was in two minds about using them, so checked with DD17 - funky or weird? She was resoundingly in favour of Funky, so I was very relieved, LOL!!! Would love to hear what you think ...

New stamps, new stamps, new stamps!

Hi everyone! The girls and I have been away for a few days; hope you didn't miss me! When we got back there was exciting mail waiting - new stamps! Now, when you're an obsessive compulsive stamper, there's not much better mail than that! LOL! New Magnolias and new Verve stamps - which of course posed the dilemma of which one to ink up first? Well, for someone as in love with watercolouring as me, there was really no contest! I started with a Magnolia, Tilda holding a bunch of roses to be precise.

These papers from Making Memories have been in my stash for years and I thought they suited perfectly. This card could be for a birthday, thank you or Valentine.

And on the inside:

Magnolia Class

Hey ho! Last night I held my first Magnolia class and it was so much FUN! The ladies adored making the cards as much as I do and who couldn't love those cute little tikes? I reckon colouring them in is like having a little girl to dress up all over again - or playing Barbie's, LOL!

I had everything all cut and prepared and had even stamped the Tildas, as I wanted plenty of time to show them watercolouring techniques. My budget hasn't stretched to copics yet, so I use ink pads and an aquapainter to colour with, then highlight using markers and the aquapainter again. Of course, good quality watercolour paper is a must.

Here are the cards we made last night:

Some of my ladies have issues with tearing, LOL, so theirs was straight cut and matted instead of torn.
Materials used:

stamps - Peachy Tilda (Magnolia)
papers - SU Afternoon Tea (retired), watercolour paper
card - SU chocolate chip, groovy guava, whisper white
other - flowers (LSS), adhesive pearls (Kaiser)

Hi everyone and welcome to my new blog. Here I'd like to share the cards I make, especially using Magnolia and Sarah Kay stamps (which I adore!) as well as digi stamps and various others. I adore watercolouring so my first offering for you just HAD to be watercoloured! Here I've used the Magnolia summer background stamp for the first time together with Tilda in flower jeans.
